Shelves: 2019, overdue, optioned-for-film
Lots of potential, but ultimately disappointing. I expected some spine-tingling chills, and while there is certainly unsettling and creepy material to be found here, it's delivered in an unsatisfying manner as the writing is often dry and full of unnecessary details. Trying to connect these stories into one overarching narrative feels forced and doesn't completely work; Auerbach would have been better off publishing this as a collection of unrelated short stories. ...more
