This started off really strong, but at some point I lost ahold of the plot and nothing really came together in the end with it for me. There are interesting ideas to this world, but I never really got a sense of it's "rules", so it felt like anything could happen at any time. I think that would have been fine if I was really into the writing or the characters or something, but I was never truly invested.

I've seen the movie based on this, and while it's quite different in a lot of story beats, i

This started out interesting and intriguing. It's a unique blend of sci-fi, fantasy and ecology. I did find myself often asking "what is that?" It's creepy, weird and a little unsettling. I was left with a lot of questions that may be answered in the rest of the series. I heard rumblings about a movie so there's that.

The characters were stripped down. Extremely so, to the point where they didn't even have names. This was clearly the author's purpose, but the lack of personality revealed in the

I was surprised by this book - the writing is fabulous, both reserved and descriptive at the same time. I wanted way more details about area X, the background, etc but I was able to satisfy myself with the brilliance of the writing. Definitively will be reading the rest of the trilogy.

Excelente para hacer teorias paranoicas. Me recordo mucho a lost en su mejor momento.

2° lectura: sos tan hermoso y perfecto como te recordaba. Natalie Portman no te hizo justicia

What the hell did I just read???

And how the hell are they making a movie of it???

I really liked the concept, the basic idea of the story... but I needed more meat, more substance to sink my teeth into. Maybe I’ll find these things in the 2nd and 3rd books in the series?

Another thing that just felt odd to me... the expedition was all women, and the main character was a woman with the story being told from her POV. Yet the characters all felt very asexual to me.
Maybe that was intentional... that

I loved this book quite a bit. It seemed like everyone in my life was recommending this to me and I finally picked it up from the library to read.

It is weird and unnerving, quickly paced but not overwhelmingly so, and the main character was very intriguing and interesting.

I will be happily picking up the rest of the series soon!

I'm left with a strong desire to spoil the rest of the series. Spoil or read, that is the question.

6/14: Watched the movie last night. It was visually striking but boring, and very different from the book.
