An enjoyable romp. Since I don't often read books from this genre, I had no idea what to expect going in, and was not sure that I was going to like it after the first few chapters. However, as I gradually started to learn more about these wildly diverse characters, I grew to love them and the strong cohesive family unit that they form together. 4.5 starts. Fun, but thought provoking story about what it means to be a family
Rereading the series for comfort in 2020 and still just as good. ❤️
I really enjoyed the world building in this one, especially when it came to alien races and cultures. The plots and characters were were kind of inconsistent, engagement-wise. There were a lot of different characters and storylines, and my interest in them varied a lot. I found the sianet pair, Toremi Ka and the algae specialists stories particularly interesting, and the stuff about the the captain, pilot and clerks stuff was all pretty good, but the bits about the Techs, especially the AI love

I loved this. I want more of this out of sci-fi! Just people doing their jobs! Maybe some politics! Not everything has to be about the world ending. I liked it so much I'm still giving it five stars despite the fact that it falls apart at the end because (view spoiler)
