I recommend this book without reservation.
The book Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell is a behemoth, but I found it a gripping and detailed read. Set during the Napoleonic Wars, which raged during the early 1800s, the book explores a revival in "good, English magic", the likes of which had not been present in England for the past 400 years. 3.5 stars rounded up. Although it was a slog to get through the first 25% or so of this book, I found myself really enjoying where the story went.
