I really enjoyed this book! Typically I find stories based on classical history a bit difficult to access. They tend to be wordy and highfalutin, but Circe was extremely accessible and readable. I appreciated her inner struggle with herself and her identity as a very minor goddess. It was clear from the star that she felt more kinship to mortals than others from her divine family. 4.5 Stars (seriously how do they not have half stars?!) probably would have been 5 if I knew more about Greek mythology going in. Very strong and interesting story though and I liked the characterizations

She did a good job of giving plausible explanations for the bizarre behavior found in Greek myths. Also enjoyed how Circe was given an important role in several other people's stories, like Forrest Gump. Especially like Odysseus and his dynamic with Athena. ...more
