Skillful and epic. I don’t think I can add anything to the universal praise, except that it deserves all the universal praise. She manages to add to existing Greek mythology without seeming too modern. A beautiful story.
Pretty good.
I think this was a strong imagining of a mythological woman who doesn't get much of a role beyond 'witch' in the Odyssey. It reminded me of Gregory McGuire's Wicked but with a more inward feminist bent. You really get to know Circe. This isn't quite a plot driven novel, but it does have it's exciting moments. I didn't think I would like this as much as I did.

I quite liked the beginning and the end, but the middle sagged a bit for me. Something about interminable isolation, loneliness and overwhelming fear for the safety of one's child was a little rough to get through in early 2021...
