DNF’d at page 370. It’s not you, it’s me. 100 pages in before the story began to resemble the synopsison the back. I kept on waiting for this to pan out and I still feel like the story is meandering all over the place. Other than a few elements, this could have been historical fiction and not fantasy at all. In fact, most of those elements are background and don’t have to do with the story at all. I guess this was just not for me.
Had my first DNF of the year though really I should have counted it for last year since that is when I started it. Just couldn't get into a book that I know has a lot of love here. I made it over 200 pages into it and realized I just didn't care how it was going to turn out. I sort of see the appeal but it was too violent for my tastes. The flashbacks were more interesting than the current story.
