This has been described as the "African Harry Potter," which I kind of scoffed at. But after having read the book, I think it actually really is a good description. The author creates great characters and a fascinating world. I know a book is good when I finish it and still have lots of questions and ideas that I want to go research and read more about.

However, the plot moves at break neck speed (probably because it's a YA book?) and I wish she had slowed down and explained more. The action in

Definitely a book for kids under 10, read through it very quick. The characters are engaging and the story imaginative. I want to read more from this author.
