Please do yourself a favor and actually read this book, instead of listening to it. I believe it would have been a four star read if it weren't for the narrator. I was enjoying the story so I did not want to quit, but wow that was bad. Some of the characters he did voices for (Griselda) actually made me cringe and not because of fear, but because it was almost cartoon-ish which took away from the story. Welcome to the worst book I've read this year. It had been a good while since I've read a horror novel and when I bought this (based on an article about great modern horror novels on Book Riot) I was lookinging forward to something half decent. Sadly that was not to be.
I almost gave it up within the first 30 pages, such was the poverty of the writing and the resolute unbeliveableness of the characters, but I have a strong distaste for not following through on books I've started so I ploughed on. ...more

4 1/2 stars. Taking away a 1/2 a star for violence towards animals. Can't deal with that. I really liked it. The story is interesting. I loved the use of technology and wished it was used more often than just in the beginning.
