As the author herself said of this book, it is a work of “grim fantasy” rather than science fiction. It’s impossible to categorize this book, although my paperback version included a readers’ guide that called it a neo-slave narrative. Harrowing but a great work that will make you think.

A grabbing premise with a conflicted character- not entirely thought out or written but engaging and ridiculously quick to read
