This book was very cool and I think I’ve found a new favourite.

I truly think this book is objectively 5 stars. The world building is great. The magic system is unique. The characters are wonderful and fully realized. The writing is beautiful and this is literally the only book that I can think of that I’ve read that has effectively utilized second-person POV. Read it for that experience alone.

Boy did I hate this book! I gave it 3 stars for creativity because it’s definitely something I hadn’t read about, but I thought it was just a slog. I found it confusing, characters almost all unlikeable, and don’t even get me started on the chapters in Second Person. Now I realize why I have almost never read any book in 2nd person, it is just annoying to read. The twist about who the different POVs are was pretty neat, but I really wasn’t grasped by the overall plot. Not sure I will be reading ...more
