I loved this novel! Ifemelu's intelligence, insight, honesty, humor, and life force infuses every page. Captivating and insightful... I am changed and educated from this novel that I had trouble putting down. 4.5 stars due to excessive detail but mostly brilliant. Adiche might be my new favorite author.

A truly incredible book about Africa, America, race, relationships, and what happens when we leave home and go back. I loved the style of the book, the inclusion of the main character's blog posts, they way she articulated her feelings on being African in America and being Americanah in Africa. I often had a hard time distinguishing the time frame between chapters, but its a small issue compared to the fantasticness of the entire novel. ...more
