I found this book to be painfully boring, with only one part being of any interest. Lestat is the least interesting vampire I have come across in any story (even worse than the Twilight vampires). All the characters are uninteresting and lifeless (pardon the pun), with the exception of Claudia later in the book. I also found the end to be a letdown.

Interesting portrayal of vampires with an exploration of immortality, morality, and family dynamics. You can kind of see where some of the inspiration for Edward may have come from, although this book is much better with the portrayal of a tortured immortal questioning morality and the nature of their soul. The flowery writing did get to be a bit tedious to read at times and the first act did drag.

Recommend? If you like vampires, flowery prose, and more focus on dialogue than action - give it a ...more
