I can remember believing that Lestat was a evil horrible vampire during my first read. My feelings have changed, Lestat was the yin to Louie's yang. A little overwritten, but I enjoyed this.
Interesting portrayal of vampires with an exploration of immortality, morality, and family dynamics. You can kind of see where some of the inspiration for Edward may have come from, although this book is much better with the portrayal of a tortured immortal questioning morality and the nature of their soul. The flowery writing did get to be a bit tedious to read at times and the first act did drag.
