I enjoyed the first 2/3 and then slogged through through last 1/3. The original part was a sweet children's story and had a moral at the end of each chapter, which I appreciated. Alcott seemed to know her own mind when it comes to how children should be raised. The second part, Good Wives, was more grown up, reflecting the advanced ages of the characters. I love that she uses Jo's trials getting published to write a little satire on the publishing industry.

I read this as a young girl and this was a re-reading for me. I enjoy Louisa May Alcott and love the four girls that make up this story. It's the story of four sisters - Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy set in the 1860's while they go through the Civil War and go from girls to women. I loved this growing up because the problems that the girls would face would feel so familiar to me.
