Update: lol I ended up teaching this to 8th graders and it worked?
Except the fatphobia is bad.

Everyone always talks about the ending, and I knew that going in, but there’s a lot about gender and class in here too. Some major blind spots, but pretty indicative of cultural changes in the 70s. Plus the idea of Terabithia is lovely. I would love to teach this but it’s probably too young for middle school.
