What Members Thought
Heavily atmospheric, claustrophobic scenes that felt alternatively shadowy and sun-bleached. A squirmy character study that is more successful in getting the reader to mislay their sympathies than it has any right to be. Unreliable antihero. I got strong Saltburn vibes for people that indulged in that wild ride of a movie.

This was a fun book. My only complain is that it is exactly like the film and that did take some of the magic away from it. I've rarely seen such a close adaptation. It actually reminded me a lot of the book You, just without all the sex.
I think this is also interesting from a historical point of view as I doubt it would be published today. Tom Ripley is almost unquestionably gay (or at least something in the LGBTQ spectrum), but he is also a conman and murderer. Even though this shouldn't ch ...more

Definitely not Patricia's best effort but as I always say any Patricia Highsmith book is a great book.

This book really makes you feel nervous and anxious about getting caught for committing two murders. It's a great book for a horrible (but talented) person's point of view.
