I quite liked the beginning and the end, but the middle was rough - far too many characters for me to follow (and it didn't help that, unsurprisingly, Dumas followed French naming conventions which allow for the same character to go by different names). Perhaps reading it over less time or with a good glossary of characters would help keep things straight. I might try the unabridged version in the future, but only with a very good edition and only when I have plenty of time to devote solely to t ...more
