What Members Thought

This one wavers between three and four stars for me, as it's beautifully written and has interesting, likable characters, but it's hard to follow, mostly because this family insists on using the same names over and over again. But overall, I liked it.
The first 50 pages of this actually reminded me more of Don Quixote than Marquez, but then the author's voice came through. And shit got real when the wars started up, but he handled those just as well as he did the generational and romantic stuff. ...more

It's the type of story that you finish and it just feels kind of heavy on you. Like, what the hell was all that? An epic of a family tree.
