Actual rating is closer to a 3.5. I liked this book as the first in a series. Kate was a really great character, and I loved her humor. Some of the Pack mentalities and mannerisms grated at me (maybe I'm not as in to the alpha male type as I thought). Also, some parts of the world building seemed a little vague, such as specific workings of power struggle between tech and magic, and took me a while to work out.
