This was on my list for a while. Many consider it a “must-read” of modern fantasy, so of course I need to check it out. When James Rollins and a couple other reviewers compared my novel, The Century’s Scribe, to The Magicians, I knew I had to make it a priority.
That being said, I did find many similarities to The Century’s Scribe. Dreden has many of the same kind of anxieties about his future as Quentin, and goes on to deal with those fears in unhealthy ways. A lot of philosophy about magic ...more
