Listening to this on audio, I remembered how much I love this series.
If you look at reviews, it's a very divisive book. You either hate it because the main character is bit of a depressed a-hole, or you love it because the main character is a bit of a depressed a-hole. After reading this again, my theory is that if you love it you're a bit of a depressed a-hole too.

A. 4.5. This took me so long to read because I didn’t listen to it fast enough, overdrive removed it from my phone, and then I had to wait to borrow it again!! I loved this book. I docked half a star for all the Lion, Witch, Wardrobe, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings tropes. Other than that the writing was excellent, the story was interesting, the characters believable. To borrow from a friend, I liked this book in the end, but it took me a long time to get there. Fillory is a pretty flimsy Narnia knock-off, but the structure of this magical world is unique and interesting. It forces the reader to think about this: what is your purpose in the world if you have unlimited magical power?
