It was enjoyable, I just feel like *something* is missing. The middle was great so it was hard for the rest of it to live up to that.

I was nervous to reread this considering how much I loved it when I read it in high school. I STILL LOVED IT! It was such a wonderful experience to revisit it, I was still riveted by it, and of course the writing is exquisite. The description and emotion of it made it play out as a movie in my head, helped along by the incredible audiobook performance by Elizabeth Klett. Her accents were consistent and authentic, and she spoke multiple languages perfectly!

Just read my Quotes at the bottom and see if your heart doesn't swoon. Helen sets up the whole premise of the book, highlighting Jane's fiery spirit and strong will. Jane comes to Thornfield, with her outlandish thoughts for the time, and proceeds to win over Mr. Rochester with her ready wit and quiet strength, "her peculiar mind." Their love shines brightly, but never truly extinguishes, even in the face of tragedy. (Tell me, are you swooning yet?)

Wow! I had forgotten how much I loved Jane Eyre. It was a book I remembered liking but sadly it had been 20 years or so since I had last read it. It was interesting to read this as an adult and happily I found the book to still be meaningful. Jane's strength of character is to be admired. In this day and age many people would do well to try and follow her lead. Yes, there are a few flaws (one coincidence that is a bit contrived) but I'm willing to overlook that since there are so many good quali ...more

Hmm... Would never be able to make it through to the end if I just read it for fun. As a school book, though, it was okay, just very very long.
