Wow. A musical that I loved so much came from a book that is not good. It meanders and the characters aren't well-formed and the author just loves to introduce people. We don't get a lot from these people, but he keeps introducing them all the same.

Long with random bits of history thrown in, but well worth the read. Amazingly well constructed and beautiful.
