"...and thus it will go on, so long as children are gay and innocent and heartless."

More than just a children's story, this is a reflection on the innocence of youth, with both the cruelty and beauty that that entails. The literary Peter Pan is far more sinister and elusive than the Disney version--worth a read for that insight alone.

I think I liked the themes more than the plot and some of it does feel dated, but there are some genuinely bittersweet and lovely moments.
