Such memorable characters and such a great friendship! I don’t regret one minute of the hours I spent listening to the audiobook. I also the historical context of the Vietnam War as well as the commentary on the Iran-Contra affair.
I liked it. The story of Owen Meany interspersed with glimpses of "Johnny"s adult life in Toronto is an intriguing story of a best friendship. It is also the story of a quirky young man who gives his life because of his belief that he is the son of God, born of a virgin birth, who has been put on earth to be an instrument of God.
