I shun horror on principle. I've never been able to handle it.
But low and behold, I find myself on winter break with a decided mission to not binge-watch Netflix the entire time. So I picked up this book upon seeing its huge 1100 page mass sitting on my brother's bookshelf. I knew I had to attempt to read it.

Okay.
I am not a horror fan, not a violence fan, and definitely not a clown fan.
Why did I read this book?
Well, for starters, it was written by Stephen King, writer of two of my favorite books of all time (The Stand and On Writing). Secondly, a good friend of mine told me I would like it.
My feelings are a bit more complicated than liking and not liking. So here I'll attempt to sort through them.

Incredibly long book, but also very good! The ending got VERY weird, and I barely know what happened, but the journey throughout the book is what makes it so good. You REALLY get to know all of these characters inside and out (well, there are enough pages to do this I suppose...). I'm going to keep this review short to avoid any spoilers, but I highly recommend this book for any fan of Stephen King, as it seems to be one of his finest works.

This book was infuriating. I love Stephen King's writing, and this book was very well written. But it was just too long! I kept with it mostly to see whether the ending made it worth the wait, but it wasn't. I think he could have told the story in half the time, I would probably given it four stars.
