There's a lot going on in "Things Fall Apart." I thought it was unusual that it didn't follow Okonkwo's every move, but it focused on him long enough for readers to get a sense of how complex of a characters he was and how he dealt with the change that came upon the clan.

Very interesting exploration of Igbo culture and a dramatic look at colonialism. It’s layered with dynamic characters. What an ending!
This was engaging from start to finish which was surprising since there is no real plot. Quite a few parts are anger inducing.
It’s a classic with a very timeless feel. I think this will stick with me for a long time. I recommend it for cultural enlightenment.

OMG SO MANY FEELINGS! What an effective and profound little book. I was so angry and upset by the end that it gave me a huge book hangover. The book brilliantly puts you in the shoes of the main characters so that when there are invaders, you immediately side with the tribe. There is one word in reference to American slavery near the end and it was all it took to give me chills. We know what happens next, and it makes the reader so concerned and sad. Very well done. African literature is not something I gravitate towards and my few attempts haven't been positive. This book started off a little slow for me but once I settled into the writing style I began to enjoy it more. This is a tale of one village prior to missionaries coming in to supposedly save them from themselves. The main focus on a rather pompous warrior type, his family, and the belief system for their village. The repetitiveness of the story telling was a bit trying at times, but his sly humor
