I read this book way back in middle school, and i had remember absolutely loving the book. Now, as a re-read about 10 years later, I did not enjoy it nearly as much as I remember. The story overall is a great one, but something about it just made me barely want to finish. Bilbo has an insane amount of "luck" in the book, way more than any character should. He also complains entirely too much, which is understandable based on how he was forced into everything, but he really is quite whiny through

I finished!
It really charmed me at the beginning but then I lost steam but I've also taken far too long to read it. Now I'm perplexed by all the embellishments in the latest movies and I want to see them again and also the animated version I haven't seen since I was a kid. Also I should start over from the beginning. Gollum and Hobbitisms were my favorite parts. And the charming language. Hobbits are so relatable.
