There are certain books in life that ground you in place and make you sit and pay attention. For me, Lolita was one of those books. It's gorgeous, witty, dark humored, complex writing affected me in a way that I didn't expect. The subject matter was superficially difficult and at times horrifying, but the layers of meaning and readings could leave you with material to discuss and dissect for years.
