Lolita is definitely not for everyone. However, I can understand why it is considered a classic (some have even categorized it as one of the best books of all time). The story makes you think... about right/wrong, love/lust, desire/obsession... etc. Also, the main character/narrator is very complex. He's unreliable and while at times you can be sympathetic to him, other times you can't.
