The story starts off describing the small town of Holcomb, Kansas, and the all the particular details of the Clutter's family's last day/night alive. Reading this part was so eerie, because you know what is going to happen, you just don't want it to. The Clutters had such normal lifes, but I could still have read about them forever. So well written, and when you get right into it it's very readable and a page turner. But the style of writing can take some getting in to. In Cold Blood reads like longform journalism, which in some ways it is, which I found I had to be in the right frame of mind for (which is why it took a month to read, even though I actually read it in only three sittings - if you are in the right frame of mind it's very hard to put down).
