Fascinating “nonfiction novel” that changed American literature and based on a gruesome famous crime. The ending was rather odd—so much discourse on capital punishment. Excellent writing and character studies—the best true crime book I’ve read.
It's no secret that Capote is a great writer; this is the book that made him a star. But I've read books by other stars that weren't that great to me. This one lives up to the hype.

I had to read this book in high school, but that doesn't change the fact that it is a really good book. Extremely well written with great character development. After watching "Capote" it made me want to read it again.
