Still slaps. Nothing compares to this -- and in the 8 years since I first read it, I've devoured hundreds of twisty psychological thrillers with unreliable narrators and all kinds of toxic domestic dysfunction. This book is still one of the very best.

I have now read this book that I heard about everywhere and I have relearned the lesson that just because it's popular doesn't mean it's good. I kept hearing about this great surprise twist and how it depicted a realistic marriage. To respond to the first, the only surprise I got out of it was the lack of twist in the end. What I'm fairly certain were supposed to be the twists seemed fairly mundane to me. If they happened in real life, sure I would think it was surprising as anything. In the con
