This my first Hemingway story and honest I'm surprised it took this long. The old man and the sea is a vivid and beautifully written story of a fisherman's epic battle to catch a huge marlin. I just loved Hemingway's writing. Also I listen to the the audiobook narrated by Donald Sutherland. He did an excellent job. Wonderful story.

The Old Man and the Sea is a great work of literature set in Cuba by Ernest Hemingway. Santiago, the protagonist of this book is down on his luck; 'Salao, the worst form of unlucky.' His strength of mind, however, helps him with hooking the largest marlin in the water. The secondary character of the book is Manolin, a young boy whom is Santiago's only friend.
The Old Man and the Sea is written in a realistic tone with a third person omniscient narrator.
