4.5/5- Finally... finally! It took me half the year, but I did it. This was an incredible feat of writing. How can SK write so many characters, and somehow make each one feel distinct and real? How can he write compelling scene after compelling scene for 1000+ pages, and it never gets old? Even the minutiae of day to day life was fascinating to me. I was a little letdown with parts of the ending, but the journey was well worth it.

M-O-O-N. That spells this book was outSTANDing! Laws, yes!
I loved this. I have had a love/hate relationship with King novels in the past, but I am so glad I gave this one a chance. If I wanted to be picky, I could say that I didn't absolutely love the ending but the rest of the book was so incredible that I can pretty easily overlook that.

Shelves: favorites, relationships, action, read-in-2016, thriller, epic, horror

Well, I eventually made it through this bad boy and I am glad I did. I have struggled to read anything substantial after finishing this book a couple of weeks ago because the characters and story are still bouncing around in my head. Prior to reading The Stand, I had only read The Shining as a teenager so I now have a new respect for Stephen King being much more than a horror writer. I felt so attached to some of these characters and dreaded their possible demise.
