I very much enjoyed this fantastical tale. The first part containing the introduction to Pi and his world was a little slow, but necessary to set the stage and thankfully wasn't longer than it needed to be. The second part is where the book took off and drew me in once the action hit the open water. Entertaining for the psychological elements with a few slow sections. This is one of those books I could read again right away and not be bored, kinda like watching "Lost" again from beginning to end... I think I would pick up things I hadn't noticed the first time. Maybe not to the same degree, though.
I didn't find any of the brutality hard to read, the one part that did make me a little sick involved Tiger feces. ...more
