I actually listened to most of this on audiobook and then read the account from Henry Jekyll’s view in this version. Then I dilly-dallied with the introduction and afterward for a few days and never finished either. This is one of those books that have inspired so much; movies, tv shows, stage productions but for me, the book itself was meh. The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde reminded me a lot of Dracula in its suspense and chilling progression. These novels work well as they unfold from the perspective of non-villain characters. Jekyll and Hyde is much more to the point, and unfortunately, a bit anti-climactic. I was somewhat disappointed by the end. Utterson seemed to have no purpose.

Unfortunately, this isn't as good if you know the twist.
