Zombies should not be mistaken as the central theme in Max Brooks World War Z. Zombies, after all, are a simple rhetorical device for fear. Thus, it is not surprising zombies resurged into popular cultural after 9/11, which ushered in its particular brand of angst: terrorism. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book! I am not a big fan of zombie stories but this one was captivating. Told in snippets of interviews, it tells the story of various people, from all across the earth, after zombies become a real thing and attack the planet.
