I grew up in Massachusetts, and had to read this play repeatedly for school. As a critique of the McCarthy era, meh .. witchcraft is imaginary, blacklisting isn't the same as hanging, et cetera. But this is actually a very good play, and it does have valid analogues in history. I'm re-reading it this year, because my son is reading it for school.
