Shane Brandon is a lawyer working for his family business The Brandon empire. With a dying father and Shane's brother wanting the reins, it seems everyone is the enemy and no one is to be trusted not even his own mother.

Shane Brandon is a lawyer working for his family business The Brandon empire. With a dying father and Shane's brother wanting the reins, it seems everyone is the enemy and no one is to be trusted not even his own mother.

Emily is on the look out for a job having applied for a few jobs, starting anew in a new city, there's more to that which isn't revealed and she first meets Shane in a coffee shop and from the moment she meets to ending up in his bed she didn’t know she would end up being his father's secretary when one of her job applications is successful. The one night stand that wasn't to be.

Emily ends up a pawn is this family's ruthless games and someone Shane falls for.

Shane genuinely begins to care for Emily and doesn't want her caught in the crossfire and wants her away from any destruction pending to the family games with links to Cartel and drugs that Shane is trying to get to the truth about with his brothers dealings but Emily is determined to stay.

I still don't know who Emily is but know she too has her secrets.

I didn’t understand the beginning of this book with a character called Teresa? that completely threw me with that scene, maybe Emily is Teresa, honestly I haven't a clue I'm completely frustrated with this book.

I kept waiting for something to happen in the plot, some excitement, anything to keep me turning the pages other than the thoughts of maybe something will happen soon but it didn’t come.

Two brothers in a battle for the company, with Shane keeping a close eye on his brother and trying to dig up the dirt. I got bored, I'm sure in the second book more will come to light but this book didn't entice me into reading it apart from wanting to know more about secretive Emily.

Told in dual pov, more mystery and suspense than romance, ends on a cliffhanger that will either have you wanting book 2 or it won't.

Very intriguing plot line. Lots of twists and turns. There so much of this story, it's difficult to keep up. But Im totally into it. There's lies, secrets, deceit, and betrayal mixed with angst and passion. Yes, some parts seem to drag on and add another layer onto this convoluted plot but I just can't get enough of it. I'm addicted. I just want know how everyone will end up...jailed, killed, hurt, or united? Unfortunately, it ends with a cliffhanger and it a 3 part series. What I understand the ...more
