When a book starts with a warning instead of a prologue, you either heed the warning or know your in for a treat.

This is not a fairy - tale. This is a black abyss that must be climbed before deserving the light.

Tamsin is a young girl taken, stolen, sold to the highest bidder and you're transported into the thoughts and feelings of a girl who pours her soul onto pieces of toilet paper written with a broken pencil, this her only source for a diary and her only voice.

What a terrible fate. It's a horrible story, but not as graphic as I feared before starting. You understand the horrors but you don't have to live all of it with her. The first couple of years are gone pretty quick, most of the pages are dedicated to the final maybe five days of the story? Anyway. This made it feel a little... slow, maybe? Not sure, but I felt something was missing. It didn't make me feel like it should have, all things considered. 3*, but I might read the next one, I'm intrigue ...more
