They met by accident at such a young age a mute boy wearing strange clothes, an outsider the first boy Mae has seen, Styx (River) sees a beautiful, heartbroken girl behind a fence with eyes like a wolf and this is the image they kept of each other until their adult years.

“I am truly happy that I got to see you again. I thought about you often, the boy behind the fence, the boy on the outside… the boy who stole my first and only kiss, and I nightly prayed for your safety and happiness. It is a ritual I will forever keep.”-Mae

This is by no means a lighthearted read, its deep, contains religious cult darkness that will disgust you, contains filthy mouthed MC males, sexual situations and talks of abuse so definitely not for the fainthearted but also brilliantly written.

There's a deep undercurrent to this whole read which is also heartwarming despite all the surrounding darkness and it's a fateful love that runs deep from the first glimpse.

Some reads are just set apart from others and this is one of them.

Finally pulling the plug...

So, I broke one of my only reading rules with this one. Which rule is that, you ask? Well, even though I try never to say never, the one that says: Melanie, DON'T read MC books.

Since I know that I loathe the way women are portrayed in them, why would I put myself into the position of having to bitch about it in a review?

Loved this book! Loved how it was different to any other MC book I have read and recently I have been struggling to find a series that I can dive into but will definitely be reading more of this series. The story of how Styx struggled and dealt with his speech impediment made this story unique and unlike other biker books out there. He is very much an alpha male; all bossy and hot but loves his woman ferociously and unapologetically. The only issue I have with this book is the lack of remorse th ...more

Really good book

This was a very good book! I CANNOT WAIT FOR FLAMES BOOK!!!

I’m not Styx’s biggest fan but it was a good enough book where that was okay. I totally recommend reading if you like MC books.

This book was all kinds of amazing. Styx's speech impediment had me floored from the start. It's so goddamn endearing! I love the mix of violence, love and even the real darkness of the cult at the heart of this story. It's a story about two people who need saving and though they're worlds apart, find each other to bring themselves out of the darkness into the light.

Another great MC series. This one is not your typical MC romance though. A lot of twists and uncomfortable situations. This one is also a bit more graphic and deals with some very disturbing issues. I mean very disturbing. This book and subject matter is NOT for everyone. But, if you can handle some of the tough issues, then it is a great read.
