Okay. I'm sorry for what I'm about to do.

It seems to me that everyone who didn't like this book is a Chaolena shipper (sorry if I spelt that wrong). Now, I'm personally a die hard Rowaelin shipper, so there is that, and this will be a biased review. However, I'd just like to say, that I WAS A CHAOLENA SHIPPER all during Heir of Fire. And the main reason for that is because Rowan and Aelin always insisted that their relationship was platonic. But I was always just like okay, okay, I don't think s Okay. So I'm not dissing Chaolena, I mean, shippers gonna ship, but just listen for just a second, then I'll get into the review.

People saying that their characters were ruined because of the ships, and how Aelin had come to depend solely on Rowan, need to seat down and look at the books. No, Aelin's character was not ruined by Rowan's and hers relationship, but more so reinforced. They are carranam, and I think possibly mates, but you can see why I think that here:

In an interview, SJM said that she let Aelin show who she needed to be with at the time rather than just pick and choose. GUYS. I THINK WE ALL NEED TO CALM DOWN ABOUT WHO SHE IS WITH. SJM is an amazing writer, and she will leave us all with the story that needed to be told. I think the thing that we need to realise is that both Aelin and Chaol have changed. I mean look at the ship names Chaolena. Roweaelin. They are two different people, as proven when she when to the The Assassin's Keep. Aedion talked about the mask she had worn all those years, and that's what we are not quite getting. Celaena was a mask, with parts of Aelin starting to show through. Sure, Celaena changed Aelin in some ways, but we are only now starting to see who she really is. THAT is why her character is changing and evolving in the ways it is and I think it's perfect :) Let's ship who we want to, but can we please not discredit the book because of that? If you have other reasons that you didn't like the book, perfect, that's your opinion. But I think the fact that because Chaolena didn't get together and (most likely) will not be end game (though they might be) is influencing the fact that people didn't like the book. I just seem to be noticing that there are hardly any Celorian shippers or Rowaelin shippers who didn't like the book, not to say that there aren't any, just a lot less. There were flaws with the book, like all books, and I will mention those in the review, but for now let's forget about the ships and remember how kick-ass the book actually was!

First thing. Can we PUHLEASSSEEE talk about the battle with Manon and Aelin. Right up there with my favourite parts of the book. It was really interesting to see how their characters met and interacted with each other, I mean, THE SASS. AND THE BATTLE. JUST ALL OF IT. I loved when Aelin showed Manon the scars from Baba Yellowlegs. I mean, I think it was a stupid and reckless move, but still, SLLAAAYYYY! That whole scene, I was literally just like FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!! It was so intense and absolutely amazing. I'm curious as to how this will impact their relationship in future books. I mean, they're enemies, but their characters compliment each other so nicely and they have FANTASTIC character chemistry. When they meet again, what will happen? They sort of have this mutual respect established, so it'll be interesting to see who Manon chooses to fight for.

Another thing. DORIAN. MY BABY. I LOVE HIM. SO. MUCH. LOVE. LITTLE CINNAMON ROLL. I'm so happy he's okay. The bit at the end where he and Aelin joined their magic was SO KICK-ASS. I think either Aelin and Dorian or Dorian and Chaol or even possibly Rowan and Aelin (along with OTP) are my favourite BROTP's. I'm slightly curious to see how he's going to react to being king, and if Manon's going to play a role in his POV. That would be interesting, either romantically or otherwise.

I loved loved LOVED the new characters. Lysandra was such an awesome person with a FANTASTIC 3 dimensional personality. I loved how she was both quirky and such a strong female influence. I really REALLY hope she becomes more prominent in the upcoming books. I didn't love Elide AS much. I found her a tad whiny and useless. BUT that twist at the end was so interesting and I absolutely can not wait to see how that plays out, what she'll do and who she will meet. I think we're set for a fantastic character development. She was really the only *half* flaw in the story, but she's going to be vital

Austrian's story had me in tears. It explained so much and I'm so giddy for the confrontation with Manon's grandma.
