4.5 Stars - this is the Chinese/Taiwanese version of When Dimple Met Rishi we’ve been waiting for! Chao’s writing is clean and doesn’t bog down the story or characters. I laughed out loud so many times and absolutely loved Mei as a character. She’s so full of passion and smarts and is HILARIOUS! I love her snark.
This is overall a really well written family story about finding yourself and following your heart despite what everyone around you says. But with lots of family drama lol

Gloria Chao has written a perfectly wonderful book that is charmingly funny, filled with warm fuzzy romance, and sometimes heartbreaking. Ride the emotional highs and lows with Mei, an extremely relatable and realistic Taiwanese American teen who is juggling MIT classes and her family’s demands with her own hopes, dreams, and fears. Great for fans of When Dimple Met Rishi, FanGirl, and Dumplin’.
