What Members Thought
This book is gorgeous. Whitehead is a master lyricist. I thought, due to the dark, painful nature of the story, that it would take me weeks to finish. Instead Whitehead's beautiful writing runs fast and beautiful and pulled me right in. Let's be clear, the subject is horrifying, main character Cora's life falls to hell over and over again as she escapes slavery only to fall victim over and over again to a United States that views her as chattel.
