I debated about whether to rate this 3 or 4 stars, and I think for me it still ranges in between.
The Portable Veblen is about relationships, the trials of family, and of course squirrels. A very smart, whimsical novel that examines the extremes of each side of life: war and peace, new money and old, materialism and simplicity. All while being funny and radiating real emotion. The plot, however, was at times wandering and often felt repetitive.
