This was a wonderful read. A bittersweet story of an old man who decides to walk hundreds of miles to help an old dying friend. There are a lot of fun, quirky characters and also very relatable characters but the journey that our MC and his wife go through was raw, realistic and very touching. This book broke my heart at times and also made me laugh and smile at times. I highly recommend it!

I just finished this book with tears in my eyes. The themes of reliving one’s past and mistakes and noticing the world around you were sweetly told. There were parts where I grew weary of the walking. He was joined by a dog and then the dog randomly left with a girl on a bus. And the garage girl reappears at the end but her presence and message didn’t seem genuine to me. But I loved the end of the story and the message of redemption, honesty and learning from one’s mistakes.

Harold Fry taught a lot of pilgrimages. Until I read this novel, I hadn't thought about travel as preparation for the end goal. Yet, isn't this what we all say is important? While it's easy to think of Harold just walking through many towns, we're really joining him as he travels through his life. I wondered what I would remember or think about if I made such a trek myself?

Wow! I'm not sure what to say...funny, heart-wrenching and heart-warming, wise.
