Big sister Iris is annoyed when her little brother is old enough to push the elevator buttons in her apartment building. She finds an old elevator button in the trash and she discovers it magically takes her to other places. If only during this Covid crisis we all had magic elevator buttons like this! Told in graphic format, the illustrations have lots of detail to create a very unique story.

It is Iris’s special job to push the elevator button for her family every day. Iris loves her job. So when her younger brother beats her to the button one day, Iris is shocked, devastated, and furious. Then Iris finds an old elevator button in the garbage and she hangs it on her bedroom wall. Now Iris has an elevator button that only she can control. But when the elevator button mysteriously starts working, Iris finds herself going on new and exciting adventures. Reminds me of Journey by Aaron Becker!

a cute story, and clever idea, but the adventure that Iris partakes of is only mildly exciting.
an excellent portray of sharing.
I also liked math the story was set in an apartment building rather than a suburban home. the tale moves slowly and takes some examination to consider the various aspects, the cryptic engaging words, and the slowly expressive faces.
