Brian Wyzlic read this aloud to Kevin English and me and Wild Rumpus in Minneapolis and it was magical.
We had a lot of fun doing a Mock Caldecott election with our adult reading group. Unfotunately, this book was not in the stack we read and I wish it had been. I can't remember the last time a picture book moved me to tears but Mattick's story is so beautifully and lyrically told my heart was overflowing by the time I finished it the first time.
